After last year’s solid but for obvious reasons teen-friendly Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, longtime fans of the franchise have been clamoring for a return back to the series roots in current-gen presentation. It’s coming, as creator Ed Boon confirms the inevitable on his Twitter page, revealing that Mortal Kombat 9 will indeed be M-rated:

People want an M-rated MK….dammit we will give them an M-rated MK.

You know what that means. Buckets of blood and gore. Although Mortal Kombat is known for making controversial waves, here’s hoping the violence boundary isn’t pushed too far, as we rather not see a repeat of the Manhunt 2 fiasco.
