Nintendo of Japan has lifted the lid on its supersized, eyesight-friendly DSi, first mentioned in a Nikkei report earlier this week. Dubbed DSi LL, the unit is slated for a release in the region on November 21. Sporting the same internal specifications as the original DSi, it sports two considerably larger 4.2 inch screens and will set those interested back 20,000 yen ($220). Aside from the obvious size difference with this unit, cosmetically the only other change is a slight variation in the placement of speaker holes. The included stylus is also jumbo-sized, which we suppose is fitting.

No word on a North American or European release date as of yet. More shots of the unit can be viewed after the break.

This is what i hate about Nintendo, i bought a NDS Lite & already there are 2 new machines being released, i bought my DS Lite just 2 months before the DSi was released, now this new one, which pisses me right off.

Mind you Sony are doing exactly the same thing now days, with there new PSP models, and now a PSP4000 may well be on its way, possibly to stop piracy i should imagine, with its 10 layers of protection. :o)

They could do more by increasing the screen's resolution but then it might be necessary to upgrade the hardware as well.

MenaceInc says:

This would cause issues with games already released on the DS as they wouldn't take up all the screen without some sort of awful stretching and any games that were made to take advantage of the larger rez wouldn't work as well on the regular DS screen

Surfing the web will be easier with big screens.
