Splinter Cell HD Remakes Inbound

Sam Fisher’s original espionage stints are receiving the HD remake treatment, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. The revelation was dropped during the company’s 2010-2011 earnings call this week, according to an IGN report.

Beyond the fact that Ubi is prepping a trilogy release of the first three Splinter Cell titles akin to its recent Prince of Persia revival, little is known about these remakes.

Ubisoft has been on a remake frenzy as of late, between this and the previously announced Beyond Good & Evil HD, which is due out on XBL and PSN next year. At any rate, we welcome the initiative. The original SC titles are classics of an era, offering stealth-oriented gameplay at its finest.

I could never get into the Splinter Cell games myself, if this shapes up nicely though I may give it another go.
