PSP Firmware 6.36 Spotted On UMD

PSP firmware 6.36 is soon to make the rounds, yet not through the usual channels. Reports on Japanese message boards indicate that it’s included on UMD copies of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. The yet to be released title ships out to retailers in the region this week — December 1.

Given the incremental version bump, this firmware is likely a non-event. It may contain fixes specifically for MHP or, as we’ve come to expect, under-the-hood ‘security’ patches aimed at locking out homebrew users and nefarious pirates.

If the release date is right around the corner, surely Sony will deliver the firmware soon I suppose.

MHP3 will most likely call 6.36 NIDs from the game to check if the user is running an official firmware. If not, then the game won't start.

I assume it won't be much of a task for Hramfaxi and with the release of 6.xxTN right round the corner, entering to a 6.xx kernel environment won't help Sony much xD
