LittleBigPlanet 2 No Longer Supporting 3D

by Justin B. December 3, 2010 @ 8:39 am

Even though Sony had a playable 3D-setup at E3 this year with LittleBigPlanet 2, the game will not support the “new” technology according to SCEA’s Mark Valledor. Valledor responded to a reader’s question about the lack of mentioning 3D capability on the game’s recently released box-art to which Valledor said “Sorry, no 3D this time around”.

The big question is: "Does anyone care?"

FrozenIpaq says:

Not really, but it's dissapointing to see them announce the capability (which worked pretty well from what I saw at E3) and then not even mention the removal of it until someone asked in a blog comment.

Deathrow says:

Kill this 3D hype already.

FrozenIpaq says:

3D works well when done properly so I wouldn't be hating on the technology. While I often found it distracting in some games, other games had just the right things "popping" out that made it impress me and make it feel slightly more immersive

KezraPlanes says:

I believe you, Frozen. Fact is though, most people don't really care because 3D is a fad that's been coming and going but this time, gamers can't even afford it.

That's why I asked if anyone cared.

FrozenIpaq says:

True, at this time it's completely unaffordable by most people, but the technology is still improving and the prices will be dropped in a years time to more affordable rates.

KezraPlanes says:

I agree with you there. It took some time, but I was able to get a HD-capable TV in 2-3 years after it became available.

Nader says:

FrozenIpaq has a good point. It is commendable when people actually let you know that "hey, we're sorry but we had to drop this and that", instead of just silently hoping to let it slip by unnoticed. That's just bad PR.

Bran says:

3D is not THAT stupid expensive. At least I don't think so. I think I'd get a 3D TV in a year or so's time.

Also I'm sure they will just add 3D into a $10 DLC like water or the Paintinator.

MenaceInc says:

I can't see any 3G effects in any films or stuff. Apparently it affects 10% of the population. :|
