Activision Settles Suit Against Infinity Ward Co-Founders

The high-profile legal dispute between Activision and Infinity Ward co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella has officially wrapped up. If you were on the edge of your seat for more drama, well, you might be disappointed. Activision announced today that “all parties to the litigation have reached a settlement of the dispute,” details of which are “strictly confidential.”

It’s a shame we’ll never know exactly what went down, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a large sum of money was involved in the settlement. Activision counter-sued West and Zampella in April of 2010, claiming that the duo poached members from Infinity Ward during their forced exit.

Several details surrounding the case have trickled out over the last few months — much of it rather damaging to Activision’s defense. Notably, the company had one of its own security employees try to hack computers in the Infinity Ward offices, in order to dig up dirt on West and Zampella. The orders reportedly came from CEO Bobby Kotick himself.

“The company does not believe that the incremental one-time charges related to the settlement will result in a material impact on its GAAP or non-GAAP earnings per share outlook for the current quarter or the calendar year, due to stronger-than-expected operating performance in the current quarter,” further noted Activision in a statement.
