E3 2012: ZombiU Could Potentially Be Multiplatform

ZombiU has all of the potential in the world to be one of the biggest breakout games on the Wii U. I spent some time playing the game at E3, and I noticed that the motion sensing controls and touchscreen integration all felt very organic. It was a fun experience, and thanks to the sound design of ZombiU, it was also terrifying.
It turns out that Ubisoft may just release the game on multiple platforms somewhere along the road. Speaking to IGN, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tony Key said that while ZombiU is certainly being designed specifically for Nintendo’s upcoming hardware, there’s a chance the development team can figure out ways to make the experience worthwhile on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at a later date.
Key mentioned that Ubisoft has discussed similar strategies in the past, particularly with Red Steel, and said that the company considered making it a multiplatform title. Additionally, the exec discussed the rise of dual screen gaming, citing the PlayStation 3 and Vita, as well as the Xbox 360 and SmartGlass, which he says add to the phenomenon of gaming on multiple screens along with the Wii U.
I can kind of see ZombiU landing on the PlayStation 3 and featuring Vita functionality down the road. That said, people would have to own a Vita, which means the game wouldn’t really offer the full experience unless people had the handheld in their possession.
