PS Vita Firmware 1.69 Due Tonight, Still Waiting On PSOne Support

Update: Looks like the firmware just went live. Hit up Network Update to download.

Sony’s announced that the PS Vita is due to receive a firmware update tonight, bringing the version count to 1.69. Firmware 1.69 is a minor update that merely adds ” improves software stability.” We’re also told that it is completely optional.

Unfortunately, that means we’re still left waiting for PSOne emulation support. Sony did finally announce that the ability to download PSOne classics would coming this later this summer during its E3 press conference. Here’s hoping that means we’ll be graced with a more sizable firmware update in the coming months.

We’ll update when the firmware goes live.

Optional? I'll skip it then... as I've had horrible luck updating my Vita. More often than not it involves trying 3 or 4 times to get it (download usually completes and then tells me it didn't download :S).

When Sony announced PSone classics coming to Vita "This Summer" I knew they meant later... and not just after E3.

Weird, I haven't had much trouble with firmware updates on the Vita surprisingly. My PS3 refuses to download firmware at anything higher than 50-100KB/s for some reason so it takes ages, I usually download the updates from my PC and stick them on USB, much faster. I use the same WiFi settings on Vita but it downloads at 1MB/s. I'm pretty sure my PS3 isn't faulty either since downloading stuff from the PS Store goes at normal speed.

Well, for me they had to update Vita for ps2 support, but that will never happen so, Sony doesn't want to spend money on making emotion engine playable on vita ( Which I assume will take some fairly good amount of time, or maybe not, since it's their engine, and they have the code from it ), and they already said they have no interest in that...

Anyway, Sony should make it more substancial, release this "stability" update along with psone support...
