Nintendo Confirms 3DS XL for North America

Reggie Fils-Aime kicked off tonight’s Nintendo Direct presentation with some major news regarding the 3DS. A hardware revision has officially been confirmed, and it looks like we’ll be getting the 3DS XL later this summer. The handheld features a sweet top screen that’s measured at 4.88 inches in width and a lower screen that’s 4.18 inches. Not too shabby!

The 3DS XL will launch alongside New Super Mario Bros. 2 on August 19. It will come bundled with a 4GB SD card and sport a $199.99 price tag. The new handheld model certainly looks great, and it’s pretty slick. The only gripe I have with it is the lack of a second circle pad, which means you’ll still have to shell out the cash for an add-on analog nub.

So yeah, this really makes me want to sell my current 3DS and get an XL. I find the original isn't too comfortable to hold, this looks much better.

@x3 - Part of me questions why this wasn't their launch unit.
