At this year’s Anime Expo, Sony and Crunchyroll announced that they would be releasing a Crunchyroll app on the PlayStation 3. The news came as a pleasant surprise for anime and manga fans, and it’s safe to say that these folks were probably stoked and eager to enjoy their favorite anime programming right on their TVs through the PlayStation 3.
As announced on Crunchyroll a few days ago, the app has officially launched on the PlayStation 3. Currently, the US and Canada are the only two territories where the service has gone live, but that will change down the road as Crunchyroll becomes available on PlayStation 3 consoles across multiple territories.
Users who sign up for the app through their PlayStation 3 will receive a nice little treat: a 30-day premium membership trial so they can watch all their awesome anime for free. Unfortunately, the video service isn’t offering HD support just yet, but Crunchyroll has confirmed plans for featuring sleek and sexy visual quality in the future, so watch out for that.
