Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee Screen Surfaces, Game Getting New Title

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was a beloved game when it first launched on the original PlayStation back in 1997. So it should come as no surprise that an HD remake will soon hit the digital download scene. An exact release date has yet to be announced, but we do have an idea as to how the game will look thanks to a screen that surfaced on Facebook. Please, don’t question why I’m getting some reputable news from a crappy social networking site; just take a look at the image above and prepare for awesomeness.

I think the shot looks like what we would expect from an HD version of Abe’s Oddysee. It has a nice 2.5D look, and it’s pretty dark. Yup, that’s Abe’s Oddysee all right!

Actually, no it’s not. Well, it, is … but it’s not. I can see why you’re confused. While the upcoming game itself is indeed an HD remake of Abe’s Oddysee, it won’t actually be called Abe’s Oddysee. Developer Just Add Water held a contest where people could suggest a new title for the game. So yeah, Abe’s Oddysee will launch with sweet new visuals; it just won’t be called Abe’s Oddysee. Does this bother anyone?

The contest has since closed and the new title for the game formerly known as Abe’s Oddysee will be revealed next week.
