Under Defeat HD Blasts Its Way to Retailers, PSN This Fall

by David Sanchez on August 23, 2012 @ 11:30 am

Originally released for arcades back in 2005, top-down shmup Under Defeat was eventually ported to the Dreamcast about a year later. The game is now headed to the PlayStation 3 in both physical and digital formats.

Publisher Rising Star Games will release Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition at retailers and on the PlayStation Network this fall. The game will be priced at $39.99, and it will sport snazzy new HD visuals, destructive environments, dual stick controls, and new modes. Additionally, the retail version of Under Defeat HD will include a digital artbook, soundtrack CD, and a letter from the producer and CEO of developer G.rev.

If you’re looking for some old school arcade shmup action, be on the lookout for this one. I might check out Under Defeat HD myself. Seriously, though, it baffles me that people kept making Dreamcast games years after that console’s official life cycle ended.

Cool stuff, had it on DC and can't wait for the HD remake! :)

Reason devs continue to keep making games for expired system such as the Dreamcast and Neo Geo (NG:DEV) is simply cos they want to keep the system alive, plus with many people still owning those systems (well, Dreamcast anyway, Neo Geo probably for the collectors), it's a great deal to them that games are still being produced! Win, win for gamers and collectors alike! :D
