Update: Fire up Network Update. PS3 firmware 4.31 is now available. For those that prefer a manual installation, here’s a direct download link to the firmware.

Sony’s announced that it will release PS3 firmware 4.31 later today, which we’re told fixes an issue with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD. There are no other changes apart from the aforementioned. It’s quite the minor update, as you could probably already deduce from the small version bump. Thankfully, it’s also optional: you won’t need to install it to continue accessing PSN.

The company released firmware 4.30 for the PS3 last week, adding support for viewing PS Vita trophies while also retiring services associated with Life with PlayStation.

We’ll update once the firmware is live, which should happen any hour now.
