Previously an exclusive perk of Microsoft’s Windows Phone ecosystem, the company has brought Xbox achievements over to iOS devices, meaning you can now rack up Gamerscore points on your iPhone and iPod. A formal announcement hasn’t been made yet, but the first game to offer such an incentive — Wordament — is now available on iTunes. The game is also available on Windows Phone and Windows 8, featuring cross-platform play, as the overview page states:

Xbox enabled gives you access to Achievements, Leaderboards and your Friends!

Cross-platform gameplay on all supported platforms.

It’s interesting that Microsoft is branching out the Xbox Live experience to platforms other than its own. We may see a similar initiative by Sony, at least on Android. The company stated last August that it was working towards implementing PlayStation Trophies in its mobile SDK.

Thanks, NeoGAF.
