It seems as if Capcom and Mega Man fans have been at odds ever since the abrupt cancellation of 3DS project Mega Man Legends 3. The company’s latest promotional efforts for the 25th anniversary of the franchise is hardly easing the tension, we’d say.
To celebrate 25 years of the Blue Bomber, Capcom has released a trailer promoting the latest line of Mega Man themed Avatars for Xbox Live. The trailer shows old-school baddies like Cut Man, Elec Man, and Fire Man strutting their stuff, but goes nary mention of what Mega Man fans actually care about – you know, like a game announcement.
There’s no doubt Capcom plans to revisit the franchise eventually, but celebrating a special occasion with a trailer like this won’t exactly go far in winning over fans. As of writing, the like/dislike ratio is hovering around 53 to 853 on YouTube. Ouch. Catch the trailer after the break.
