Ouya Controller

Some changes are coming to the Ouya controller’s look and feel. Development kits for the Android-based console have been out for a short time now, so there’s been plenty of feedback. According to the Ouya devs, some changes have already been implemented, but there are more that will be considered before the system’s official launch in April.

The first big change is centered on the D-pad, which is being altered from a disc to a more traditional cross style. The controller’s analog sticks will be rubberized for better grip. The sensitivity of the touch pad has been tweaked to provide more responsive functionality. Trigger placement is now closer to the body of the controller. Last, the battery bay is more secure.

It’s great to see these changes being incorporated to the Ouya before launch. Future adopters of the console can look forward to putting the controller and the system to the test in a few months.
