Square Enix Thinks Hitman, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs Delivered Weak Sales

Tomb Raider

Well, this is kind of weird. Square Enix seems to believe that a few of its titles have been on the weak end of sales despite the fact that they’ve actually done quite well. The games in question are Tomb Raider, Hitman: Absolution, and Sleeping Dogs, three games that could really only be called stellar experiences.

According to a company sales report, estimated figures weren’t met, and sales across the North American market were deemed “ineffective.” Tomb Raider has turned out roughly 3.4 million copies; Hitman has also performed quite nicely, topping off at 3.6 million sales; and Sleeping Dogs is at the bottom with a still decent 1.75 million sales.

These numbers don’t seem to be considered all that impressive by Square Enix. All of this really makes you wonder what exactly it might be that publishers these days expect. These three games literally sold millions combined, yet that doesn’t seem to be enough, which is actually kind of sad.
