It’s finally happening: Earthbound will soon be available on the Wii U Virtual Console service. Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata made the huge reveal during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, in the process causing longtime fans to geek out uncontrollably.
Earthbound enthusiasts have been begging for a Virtual Console release of the famed cult classic, but up until now it seemed as though that was nothing more than a pipe dream. Thankfully that’s no longer the case, and we’ll soon be able to play this lovely SNES RPG on the Wii U.
No word just yet on when exactly the game will be available. That said, this is still great news for both Earthbound lovers and folks who never played the game. So if you haven’t actually played this crazy adventure and you own a Wii U, I’d highly suggest you watch out for it. Or else!
Oh, and contrary to the original Earthbound marketing from the ’90s, this game does not stink!
