When The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave launched last year on the 3DS eShop, it immediately became a hit. It makes sense then that publisher and developer Genius Sonority Inc. will soon release a sequel on Nintendo’s dual screen handheld. The Denpa Men 2: Beyond the Waves is due out on the eShop on May 30, and it’ll introduce new features to its predecessor’s formula.

The RPG gameplay from the first game will return, featuring dungeon crawling and party battles. Additionally, you’ll still use your 3DS handheld’s camera to scan the real world for the elusive Denpa Men. This time around, however, you’ll also be able to battle other players online and access StreetPass features.

I actually wasn’t the biggest fan of the original Denpa Men. That said, the game was largely well received, so maybe it just wasn’t my type of game. I might give Denpa Men 2 a go anyway, because even though I wasn’t too keen on the actual gameplay, I found that capturing the little critters in my living room was a nice little novel idea.
