Wii Mini

Holy crap, it’s finally happening, people! The Wii Mini is coming to the US! While Nintendo didn’t give an exact date in today’s press release, the company did state that we should see the system at various retailers sometime in the middle of November. The console will run you $99.99, and it’ll come bundled with a copy of Mario Kart Wii.

After releasing the micro version of the Wii in Canada and the UK, it was uncertain if Nintendo would do the same in other regions. It looks like we’re safe, though, because we’re totally getting it over here.

Okay, okay, so it’s probably not the most ideal choice considering it doesn’t connect to the Internet, play GameCube games, or have an SD card slot. That said, it’s kind of a neat novelty item, don’t you think? It’s so … fun to look at. I will say that including Mario Kart Wii as a pack-in is kind of weird considering Nintendo pushed that game’s online multiplayer component quite strongly for a while.

Obviously, if you already own a Wii or Wii U, there’s really absolutely no reason for you to shell out 100 bucks for this thing. But if, like me, you’re fascinated by owning stupid things, the Wii Mini could be a laughably worthwhile investment. In any case, here’s how I feel about this announcement:
