Steam users

Valve’s popular Steam service has managed to hit a nice milestone. As reported on PCGamesN (among several other outlets), the digital download distributor surpassed a whopping 7 million concurrent users. That’s 7 million folks playing on the service all at the same time. Impressive!

If you scope out Steam’s official stats page, you’ll see that the peak was a ridiculously insane 7,190,317 players gaming away on their PCs at once. That’s, like, several cities put together!

So you get a sense of scope, Steam has about 65 million registered users total. Last year, the record hit 6 million concurrent users. It’s going to be interesting to see what the big number is next year.
