While not much was known about Square Enix’s next-gen foray into the world of Hitman, we now know this much: The game’s been canceled. As indicated by VideoGamer, LinkedIn profiles of several Square Enix Montreal employees listed the game as a canned project that’s no longer in the works.

Reports state that the game would be yet another series reboot. In addition, it was said to be in development for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and would reportedly feature microtransactions. Ew!

So what’s the development team doing now that it has some extra time on its hands? Apparently, Square Enix Montreal has shifted its focus on developing a Hitman game for iOS and Android devices. Um, yay?
