Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes

In a recent report in the latest issue of Game Informer, it was revealed that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes could be finished in two hours. Even despite the game’s fairly low price, that’s a considerably short amount of time. In an effort to put criticisms to rest, Director Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to address concerns over the game’s length.

MGSV Ground Zeroes includes the main mission alongside 5 Side Ops. All missions include elements such as ‘Trial Records,’ where players can compete against each other online. This is not a linear game like the past. GZ offers freedom of approach & play style, which we hope players will enjoy over & over without boring. I believe people will be satisfied with the ‘Play Time’ of GZ and will not stress the ‘Clear Time,’ which is a standard for linear games.

It’s probably good from a press standpoint that Kojima took the time discuss the reported two-hour length of Ground Zeroes. That said, the director did mention a few things that some players may not exactly care too much about when they purchase games such as competing against others online and side missions. For some, it’s all about the main storyline, which means that at two hours, Ground Zeroes won’t offer up an exactly beefy experience.

Of course, there are also individuals who don’t judge a game based on its length. Numerous indie titles, as well as a number of games from AAA devs are noticeably short, yet they still offer up a worthwhile experience. Ground Zeroes could potentially do the same.

Hey, at least we know Phantom Pain will be several times bigger than Ground Zeroes.
