Ikaruga - Steam

Iconic shooter Ikaruga will finally be making its way to the PC via Steam beginning next week. The game is set to launch on February 18, though pricing details have yet to be disclosed to the public.

Originally a pocket change-devouring arcade gem, Ikaruga eventually made its way to the Dreamcast. It was later released on the GameCube, and it most recently found a home on the Xbox 360. This upcoming Steam release will likely ensure that an even wider audience gets to experience its unique and brutal brand of shoot ’em up mayhem.

Ikaruga features polarity-based gameplay that has players switching between red and blue forms to absorb like-colored incoming fire, all the while taking down aggressive enemies. Get hit by an opposite-colored projectile, and you’re down. It’s a highly challenging style of play that’s won the hearts of many over the years, even if it is quite difficult.

If you’re looking to revisit Ikaruga, or if you simply want to experience the game for the first time, definitely be on the lookout for it next week.
