The Hong Kong Massacre

Take one look at The Hong Kong Massacre and you’ll instantly be reminded of Hotline Miami. The game’s top-down, blood-drenched, bullet-heavy style is certainly reminiscent of developer Dennaton Games’ neon-soaked hit. As reported on Eurogamer, however, further inspection of The Hong Kong Massacre, reveals a few welcome nuances.

Developed by Vreski, the upcoming game also borrows heavily from John Woo’s beloved action movie style. The Hong Kong Massacre features dual-wielding gameplay, crazy gun fights against multiple enemies, and slick slow-motion mechanics.

Changes are still being incorporated into the game. For starters, it’s being ported to Unity, which in turn means the visuals are likely to get an overhaul. As revealed on TIGForums, Vreski is planning to model everything in 3D while keeping the top-down perspective. Unfortunately, this means the game will take longer to launch. On the plus side, it looks pretty damn cool and could be a fine action game worth waiting for.

Check out the trailer of The Hong Kong Massacre below to get a nice glimpse of the action. It’s still in its prototype phase, but it’s already looking quite entertaining and just plain badass.
