Soulcalibur Lost Swords

The latest chapter in the Soul series is set to drop later today. As specified on the PlayStation Blog, the free-to-play Soulcalibur: Lost Swords will hit the PlayStation 3, offering up a new experience for fans of the weapons-based fighting series.

Based on the Soulcalibur V engine, the game is clearly inspired by Bandai Namco Games’ other free-to-play offering Tekken Revolution. Unlike that game, however, Lost Swords is a single player-only experience, challenging you to take on a number of quests as you collect different items, weapons, and accessories to improve your characters.

In addition, players can upload their characters to the game’s servers for others to download. Downloaded characters will act as allies during battle, and sharing your customized fighters will net you Friend Points.

Also worth noting is the inclusion of Sophitia and Taki, who were absent in Soulcalibur V. That should please players who were disappointed with their omission last time around.

Lost Swords will be available today when the PlayStation Store updates.
