Newell: PS3 Is A Waste Of Time

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has always been a PC guy, never was a big supporter of consoles. But he apparently really, really hates the PlayStation 3. According to Gabe, the PlayStation 3 is a total waste of time:

Absolutely. I think [PS3 is] a waste of everybody’s time. Investing in the Cell, investing in the SPE gives you no long-term benefits. There’s nothing there that you’re going to apply to anything else. You’re not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they’ve created. I don’t think they’re going to make money off their box. I don’t think it’s a good solution.

Uh-oh. Gabe better prepare for the inevitable avalanche of hate mail from PS3 fanboys.

Junit and Ecko, you do know the whole article also states he doesn't like Consoles PERIOD lol he just hates the PS3 more then others.

Then again PC = M$
and 360 = M$ so you have better reason to gloat about his hatered for the PS3 and it's "Cell processor". Oh well what can one do.

I'm so tired of hearing that ___ sucks. Anyone who seriously claims that ANY of the three consoles "sucks" is a fanboy. Clearly, none of them are that bad. Is the PS3 a bit expensive? Yes. Is the 360 prone to hardware problems? Yes. Is the Wii...uh, I'm sure there's a rhetorical question I could ask here, but it's not coming to me just now.

Everyone I hear trashing one of the consoles seems to be really trying to convince themselves that they made the right decision by picking a different one.

But yeah, I agree, I mean, I have the Wii60 combo, and I'm happy with them. When good stuff comes out on the PS3 and the price comes down a bit I'll prolly get one of 'em, but that's not gonna be for quite a while. All the consoles have positives and negatives, of course *crosses fingers every time he plays his 1.5 year old 360*, although I do have some stuff against how bad the PS3 is turning out, but still, it'll all come around in due time.
