Bummer! It looks like the PlayStation 4 won’t transfer and play any of your currently downloaded PlayStation 3 software. This includes PSone and PS2 Classics as well as original PlayStation Network content. I repeat: bummer!

As indicated by a report on Destructoid, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida stated that the internal architecture of the PlayStation 4 is considerably different from that of the PlayStation 3. In order to save power, the console cannot be loaded with emulation software. While PlayStation 4 users may be able to stream PlayStation 3 games eventually, details on that aspect of the new platform are currently under wraps.

I would suggest you hold on to your PlayStation 3 for a good while. I know I’ve still got a huge backlog to get through. You have to wonder, though, how will this affect the current PlayStation Plus, which offers a bunch of free downloadable titles?

Sony has confirmed on the PlayStation Blog that the PlayStation Network will be undergoing a bit of maintenance tomorrow. That’s Thursday, January 17 for those of you who are like me and have been having a hard time keeping up with the days in 2013.

As per usual, users will not be able to access their account management info. The PlayStation Store will also be inaccessible. That said, you’ll still have access to your games’ online features if you’ve recently signed on to the PlayStation Network.

Maintenance will take place between 8AM and 8PM PT or 11AM and 11PM ET. If you’ve yet to sign on and you foresee yourself getting some online gaming in tomorrow, be sure to access the PlayStation Network today.

Sony has just posted on their blog that any user who pre-orders the digital version of Metro: Last Light on the PlayStation Network will receive a free digital copy of Homefront and an exclusive Metro PS3 theme. To qualify you must make sure you pre-order on the PlayStation Network, otherwise you will not be eligible for the free copy.

In addition, anyone who pre-orders the game will automatically be upgraded to the “limited edition” which includes:

·Limited Edition Bonuses:

Ranger Mode: The brutal and hardcore way to play Metro in complete immersion. That means no HUD, fewer bullets and deadlier weapons. This is the way Metro was meant to be played and is definitely not for the faint of heart!
Modified Russian assault rifle: Compact but deadly, the modified AKS-74U is the perfect weapon for the claustrophobic combat in the Metro.
Extra military-grade bullets: In post-apocalyptic world of Metro, military grade bullets are extremely rare, so much so that they’re used as the only currency by the surviving population. They’re coveted for their ability to deal high damage, but will you use them in battle or to purchase precious upgrades for your arsenal?

Back in its early days, you may remember that the PlayStation Store was accessible from the browser. Sony eventually pulled it, limiting store access to PlayStation devices only. However, with the recently revamped store interface it was hinted that we’d see a return of the browser-based store, and here it is. Sony’s launched a version of the PS Store that can be access entirely in your browser. While it’s only available in European territories for now, those in other regions can still check it out at the following link.

Sony was keen to note last October that the redesigned store is built on HTML5, allowing for more flexibility when it comes to developing for multiple devices. For the most part, the web-based store packs in all the functionality from the main PS3 store. Users can view file sizes, screenshots, ratings, browse specific categories, and purchase content. Perhaps in the not-too-distant future we’ll see remote downloads a la Steam.

The strides Sony has made to make its store more accessible and open are definitely welcomed. Here’s hoping we’ll see other platform holders follow suit.

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Network will be undergoing maintenance on Monday, December 3 AKA tomorrow. You folks know the drill: If you’ve signed onto your account recently, you’ll still be able to play games online and access apps on your Sony gaming machines.

As per usual, PlayStation Store, Home (people still use that?), and account management functionality will be unavailable. So if you’ve got your eye on a sweet downloadable title, I’d say you should download it now.

PlayStation Network maintenance will take place between 8AM and 4PM Pacific (11AM and 7PM Eastern). Also, someone totally thought this was a valid question:

Developer Just Add Water has announced that Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD will be playable on the Vita on December 18. Well, it was about time, wasn’t it?

The updated remake of this popular action title has been available on the PlayStation 3 for just under a year now, so it’s great to see it get the portable treatment on the Vita. Sadly, the game won’t support cross-buy or cross-play features, so if you already own the game on PlayStation 3 and want to take it with you on the go, you’ll have to buy it all over again.

If you don’t already own Stranger’s Wrath HD, though, and you’d like to take it for a spin, perhaps the Vita version is the way to go. Either way, that’s another solid title that will soon be available on Sony’s handheld.

Edmund McMillen recently announced that The Binding of Isaac, his hit roguelike shmup project from 2011, was confirmed for release on consoles. As expected, the indie gaming community flooded the Super Meat Boy developer with questions regarding the game, which he also stated would feature a brand new 16-bit look and a bonus expansion.

McMillen took to his blog and addressed several queries, in the process revealing more details on the aptly titled The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. According to the designer, Nicalis (who’s worked on Cave Story and VVVVVV ports in the past) will be handling the development of Rebirth. Thus far, the game is set to land on PlayStation 3, Vita, and Steam, and the company is in talks with Microsoft and Nintendo. Additionally, an iOS version is being looked into, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

Rebirth will include the Wrath of the Lamb DLC that was released this year for the original PC version, and a brand new expansion will beef up the experience even more. A new ending, chapter, characters, and items are just a few of the content updates that are being teased. After seeing for myself just how much bigger the game could get with Wrath of the Lamb, I can only imagine the oodles of content that this new expansion will include.

As a fan of the original version of Isaac, I’m pretty stoked about this 16-bit remake. I’m especially looking forward to playing the game using a regular controller, and I can’t wait to jump into the local two-player co-op with a buddy. If you’re a fan of indie games, roguelikes, or shmups, I’d highly suggest watching out for Rebirth.

Developer Beatshapers took to the PlayStation Blog to announce that Jetpack Joyride is officially available on the PlayStation Network. Originally created by Halfbrick, this running man game has become quite notorious for delivering one of the most rewarding and addictive experiences in its respective genre.

Jetpack Joyride is available as a PlayStation Mini, which means you can play it on your PlayStation 3, Vita, and PSP. Options, you guys! Ideally, this is a hell of a game to take on the go with you, so the Vita and PSP versions are certainly welcome. I, however, had a blast with the Facebook version that was released a few months ago, which leads me to believe that playing the game on the PlayStation 3 would be equally blissful.

You can download Jetpack Joyride on the PlayStation Store for $3.99. Every save file will be treated to Final Blast, Head Start, and Quick Revive power-ups for one-time use, as well as a couple of skin and jetpack upgrades. Even though the game is available for free elsewhere, I’d argue that $3.99 is most certainly an enticing price tag. I know I’m tempted to buy it even after already investing hours into it.

Can’t get enough Borderlands 2? Well, you’re in luck, because 2K Games and Gearbox Software have launched the latest round of story DLC for the game. Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage was made available today across the Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Store, and Steam.

As previously explained, Torgue is one of the many weapons manufacturers in the world of Borderlands 2. Considering the main game is already partially about awesome weaponry, it’s kind of cool to see that an entire DLC pack was dedicated to an in-game arms dealer.

Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage is available for download now. You can snag it on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of Borderlands 2 for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99.

For those yearning for more old-school Doom action in the wake of Doom 3 BFG Edition’s release, Bethesda has you covered. The company is readying Doom Classic Complete, set to hit PSN today.

The announcement isn’t exactly surprising, considering we outed a list of trophies yesterday revealing that the collection will include Ultimate DOOM, DOOM 2: Hell on Earth, DOOM 2: Master Levels, DOOM 2: No Rest for the Living, Final DOOM: TNT Evilution, and Final DOOM: Plutonia Experiment. While some of these appeared in Doom 3 BFG Edition, the inclusion of the latter two is notable, considering those didn’t make it into the previously released XBLA Doom collection.

Doom Classic Complete will set you back $14.99. For those that picked up the BFG Edition, we’re told that no update or DLC package is planned to add the extra games currently.

The Vita firmware 2.00 update launched today, and with it comes an improved web browsing experience. According to a tweet from Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, players will no longer have to quit their games in order to use the browser. Not too shabby, eh?

Of course, that’s not the only positive modification that the web app is undergoing. Yoshida continued that the browser will also be faster. It’s great to see some subtle but useful changes coming to the Vita’s functions as a result of firmware 2.00.

It doesn’t end with slick browser alterations, though. As reported last week, PlayStation Plus for Vita is also a major perk of the latest firmware update. That means subscribers will have access to cloud storage, automatic updates, Trophy syncing, and more.

It’s been quite the lengthy road leading up to this point, but Telltale Games has announced that The Walking Dead will reach its season finale soon. Titled The Walking Dead: Episode 5 – No Time Left, the final chapter in this wildly successful adventure game series will come to a halt next week.

The game will launch on the PlayStation Network on November 20. Xbox Live Marketplace, PC, Mac, and iOS versions will follow shortly the next day. Because ya know, if you’re going to have a zombie apocalypse, you might as well spread it evenly across all gaming platforms.

No Time Left was preceded by four truly riveting chapters of zombie lore and tough decisions. Each game managed to get more tense and, to put it bluntly, really effed up, providing an experience that fans were quick to jump into.

After the upcoming season finale’s launch, you really have to wonder how long it’ll take for Telltale to continue the series with a second season.

Namco Bandai has announced that Katamari Damacy, which was originally available on PlayStation 2 in 2004, will soon be downloadable on PlayStation 3. The game will appear on the PlayStation Network as a PS2 Classic, and according to Siliconera, this news currently only concerns Japan. Drat!

Katamari Damacy was a spectacular hit when it landed on Sony’s previous home platform, and it paved the way for what became a long-running franchise. Having said that, let’s hope this PlayStation 2 original makes its way to the PlayStation Store here in North America. Seriously, that game was awesome.

For now, folks in Japan can definitely look forward to some ball-rolling, crap-collecting, face-melting awesomeness on November 21. Katamari Damacy will be available for 1,200 yen which is just about $15. Hmm … That seems about right. I know I’d certainly pay that sum for some old school Katamari craziness.

Sony’s announced that PSN is set to undergo planned maintenance on Sunday, November 11. The maintenance window is three hours long, and will stretch from 10 pm to 1 am Pacific Time.

As is usual, online gaming won’t be affected, provided you’ve signed in to the service at least once over the past few days. However, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management services will be unavailable throughout the duration of this maintenance window.

Sony didn’t say what the maintenance was for, but if we had to guess – it’s likely related to the recently redesigned store or general under-the-hood tweaks.

For a while now PlayStation 3 owners have been wondering when and if they’ll get DLC for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The past several months have been rife with confusion and speculation, but now Bethesda has addressed the fans’ concerns. Well, kind of. It’s really more like an update of an update.

The company took to Twitter and announced that add-on content for both the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of Skyrim wasn’t very far off. “To update: we’re also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC,” tweeted Bethesda.

While that particular update may be fairly ambiguous, it’s still better than a previous announcement Bethesda made where it stated that the content might never be available on the PlayStation 3. Here’s hoping fans do get new content as it’s a total shame that PlayStation 3 users got the short end of the bargain with Dawnguard.

Have you checked out Devil May Cry HD Collection yet? You say there’s literally no more room left in your house, and if you add another physical game to your collection you won’t have any space to move around in? Well, you can do one of two things. You can either move to a bigger place or download Devil May Cry HD Collection.

Capcom announced that the compilation is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network for 2400 Microsoft Points and $29.99, respectively. If you’ve been meaning to check out this rather stellar collection of games and have yet to do so, you may want to consider the digital versions.

Devil May Cry HD Collection includes Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry: Special Edition. The games feature revamped visuals and achievements, so they should keep you busy for a while.

First Nintendo Power, now PlayStation: The Official Magazine …

It looks like we’re going to have to bid farewell to yet another gaming publication pretty soon. According to a report on Game Informer (which also happens to be a magazine yet appears to be in no real danger), PlayStation: The Official Magazine will cease publication.

While neither the magazine itself nor publisher Future US would comment on the story, it looks as though the final issue will be printed this holiday season. It’s a shame, really, and it kind of blows seeing all of these old school gaming magazines go the way of the Dodo.

PlayStation: The Official Magazine originally launched in September 1997, so it’s been around for quite some time. It’s sad to see it go after all these years. In a related note, we’d like to wish the very best to the writing staff.

On November 18, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Wii. If you feel like testing it out before you purchase it, however, you can now do exactly that.

Disney Interactive announced that a demo of Epic Mickey 2 is now downloadable on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. If you own an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and plan on playing Epic Mickey 2 on any platform, you might as well check out the demo.

The sampler lets you play through a few of the early stages from the game as Mickey, with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit lending a helping hand here and there. Watch out for the full game when it launches in just over a week.

Originally available at retail back in 2010, the intense third-person shooter Vanquish is now headed to the PlayStation Network. The announcement came courtesy of the latest PlayStation Blogcast, and considering the game is already downloadable on Xbox 360 Games on Demand, this makes absolute sense.

Vanquish launched to quite the mixed reaction two years ago. While plenty of people loved the insane action gameplay this Platinum Games effort offered up, other individuals were a bit put off by it. It really all boils down to personal preference. I really dig crazy games, so Vanquish definitely appeals to me.

If you haven’t already played the game and are curious about it or you’re looking for something a bit less conventional, watch out for Vanquish on the PlayStation Network on November 6. Still no word on pricing, but I think we can safely assume the price tag will be around $19.99.

After a bit of a delay, the latest DLC for Max Payne 3 has landed. The Hostage Negotiation Map Pack is available now on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and PC for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99. As per usual, Rockstar Pass owners won’t have to pay anything extra.

The Hostage Negotiation Pack includes for new maps for Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Payne Killer modes. Additionally, players who purchase the DLC also receive new weapons and items including a powerful assault rifle and a stat enhancing mask. A new faction, burst, achievements, and grinds have also been thrown in for good measure.

It should be noted that at this time PlayStation 3 users are experiencing problems and are being asked to pay for the DLC even if they own the Rockstar Pass. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, so I’d suggest just hanging tight until Rockstar addresses the issue, which it will hopefully do later today.

Grand Theft Auto V isn’t the only Rockstar Games title that’s in the news these days. While rumors have surfaced regarding the game’s launch window, another Rockstar endeavor is also making its rounds. This time it’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which first launched on the PlayStation 2 back in 2004.

A listing on the ESRB website indicates that the 1990s-themed open world crime game is headed to the PlayStation 3. Other than the listing, though, we don’t really have much info. In other words, while a lot of folks (myself included) would be stoked to see an HD remake of San Andreas, we can’t rule out a straight digital port of the PlayStation 2 version on the PlayStation Network.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City recently hit its 10-year anniversary, and Rockstar is currently working on mobile versions of that game. Additionally, Grand Theft Auto III was re-released on the PlayStation Network with no Trophies or HD visuals — just some sweet urban mayhem. Whether San Andreas will get that same treatment remains to be seen, but it’s very possible.

Sony and developer Eat Sleep Play launched Twisted Metal on PlayStation 3 back in February. When it first popped up on the scene, the game managed to offer quality car combat gameplay. The story mode left a bit to be desired, but with an addictive online multiplayer component, Twisted Metal was quite a treat. Unfortunately, the game has since fizzled out, and people don’t really talk about it these days.

In case you never played Twisted Metal and you completely forgot about it by now, you should know that it’s coming to the PlayStation Network as a downloadable title. As revealed on a PlayStation Blog podcast, the latest in co-creator David Jaffe’s insane and explosive driving series will also be marked down from its original price tag to a much more pleasant $39.99.

Shortly after the launch of Twisted Metal, Jaffe left Eat Sleep Play. The developer has since stated that he would like to delve into other projects, but he hasn’t abandoned the car combat franchise he helped bring to light. If Sony decides to continue on with the IP, which it owns, Jaffe says he’d be on board to get involved with the project.

It’s a bit of a shame that Twisted Metal didn’t really take off. The game is a lot of fun, and though its single-player mode isn’t as story-driven as past entries, it’s still entertaining. The selling point of Twisted Metal, however, is its online multiplayer. Here’s hoping the new price and digital availability will entice gamers to check out this rather underrated experience.

Insomniac Games took to the PlayStation Blog to announce some noteworthy launch info for Ratchet & Clank: Full Front Assault. The game, which will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Vita on November 27, will be priced at $19.99. That’s quite the attractive bargain price, wouldn’t you say?

Because a lot of gamers love shiny packaging and tangible game cases, the developer also revealed that Full Frontal Assault for the PlayStation 3 will be available through the PlayStation Network and at retailers. The game will be a cross-buy title, which means if you snag the PlayStation 3 version, you’ll automatically be able to download the Vita version absolutely free of charge.

Full Frontal Assault will mix classic Ratchet & Clank gameplay with new tower defense elements to create an experience that’s pretty different from past iterations. Insomniac has dubbed the upcoming title a “fun-sized” game, and it may prove to be exactly that. We’ll find out when it launches next month.

Last week wasn’t exactly the most successful period for the launch of the new PlayStation Store in Europe. After being temporarily postponed in the UK and other PAL territories due to severe issues, it looks like Sony’s finally addressed the problems and has officially released the revamped digital shop across Europe.

While a few European territories had access to the PlayStation Store last week, several others weren’t so fortunate. The issue arose after download, PlayStation Plus, and wallet bugs plagued the system. It looks as though that’s no longer the case. “The new PlayStation Store is now live in all EU territories,” tweeted SCEE.

It’s great to see the new and improved (?) PlayStation Store up and running throughout all of Europe. Here’s hoping it remains functional. We’ll be staying tuned for the upcoming release of the modified digital platform in North America.

Sony has revealed intentions of cutting 2,000 jobs across its offices in Japan. The company is currently attributing the planned layoffs as part of an “early retirement scheme,” reports The Next Web. Whatever the case may be, it looks like the company’s head office in Japan will take the biggest hit, with 20 percent of its employees expected to be released by the end of the year.

The PlayStation manufacturer has seen some major drops in revenue. Back in August, Sony reported a loss of over $310 million for the Q1 2012 period. By removing 2,000 of its staff members, the company hopes to continue battling its losses. As previously announced by the company, a 10,000 employee cut is expected, so this next wave of layoffs falls in line with those plans.

Sony’s been making budget cuts for some time now, closing down several studios including Sony Liverpool. It’s hard to tell what the company will do next, but it’s obvious it’ll close down the offices it feels it’s not generating a lot of success and revenue from. Any way you slice it, this is a bad situation for everyone involved.

After a host of problems plagued the new PlayStation Store design yesterday across Europe, Sony has decided to postpone the new update in the UK and a handful of other PAL countries. The problems included faulty downloads, the inability to add funds, and PlayStation Plus accounts not being recognized.

“The phased launch of the new PlayStation Store has been temporarily postponed in some territories as teething issues related to the global roll-out of the Store are being addressed and resolved,” announced Sony in a statement to MCV.

It’s a shame that Sony’s new PlayStation Store can’t be enjoyed by the masses across Europe. Here’s hoping the company resolves the issues as soon as possible. In the meantime, those of us in North America will gladly wait for the bugs to be fixed before we check out the update. As long as issues persist, we’re not in any rush to get a revamped digital marketplace.

In a similar fashion to Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, the next planned DLC for Borderlands 2 has been revealed prematurely. According to a report on Joystiq, the add-on story-based content will be titled Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage.

And that’s about all we know about the DLC thus far. Torgue is one of the arms manufacturers in the Borderlands 2 universe, which indicates that the DLC will provide some story on that. What that story may be remains to be seen, but it could follow the personnel behind the Torgue company closely, which hopefully means even more guns.

Alternatively, how hilarious would it be if there were no guns or ammo whatsoever in the Torgue DLC? Okay, so it would probably only be funny for, like, five minutes.

The new PlayStation Store launched in Europe today. While screenshots show off a sexy new appearance for the digital marketplace, a lot of users have been reporting several issues with the component.

Problems with the PlayStation Store, as reported by Destructoid, include lengthy load times; no way to add funds; nonfunctional downloads; and no recognition for PlayStation Plus members. Ouch! Not the best start for the revamped service, that’s for sure.

Sony is apparently keeping folks posted on the situation via Twitter. It’s a shame that Europe’s PlayStation fan base is experiencing these issues. Here’s hoping this whole mess gets sorted out soon.

The HD re-release of Jet Set Radio has been available on download platforms across Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC for just about a month now. In that time, the game has been met with its fair share of mixed reaction amongst critics, newcomers, and longtime fans alike. One version of the game we’ve been waiting on is the Vita edition, which failed to launch alongside its console brethren.

It looks like the wait just got a little more indefinite. Speaking to VG24/7, a Sega representative revealed that a release date had yet to be decided on for Jet Set Radio on Vita. According to the company, the game is being delayed for an unforeseen amount of time “due to necessary development optimizations.” What does that mean? I have no clue. Perhaps Sega’s attempting to implement Vita-centric features, or maybe the company just hit a rough patch with the port.

Regardless of whether or not Jet Set Radio holds up to today’s standards, it’s a shame that the game isn’t widely available. There’s undoubtedly a group of Vita owners who would love to play the game on the go. Here’s hoping Sega finishes up development of the game on Sony’s handheld device sooner rather than later.

Last week we found out that some PlayStation 3 users who played The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner were having their save files corrupted. The issue resulted in a lot of players having their data wiped, thus causing them to lose all of their content. Because The Walking Dead shifts based on player choices, it’s easy to see how something like this would be an issue.

Luckily, Telltale Games released a patch to fix up that nasty problem over the weekend. “Updated last night: A patch has been released for PS3 users of ‘The Walking Dead: Episode Four‘ that will fix an issue related to save data,” tweeted the adventure game developer.

It’s good to know that this bug was addressed so speedily. Here’s hoping PlayStation 3 owners can continue to enjoy their choice-heavy zombie-slaying experience without any further hitches.

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Network will receive maintenance scheduled for Monday, October 15. The maintenance will begin at 4 AM and run through 4 PM PST. If you’re on the other side of the US, maintenance time will occur between 7 AM and 7 PM EST.

As usual, if you’ve signed on to your PlayStation Network account prior to the scheduled service, you’ll still be able to play games online. PlayStation Store, Home, and account management, however, will not be available to access.

North America is scheduled to get the sexy new PlayStation Network appearance on October 23, meanwhile Europe will receive the overhaul on October 17. It’s good to know that maintenance will occur prior to the PlayStation Network update. It would be a shame to have limited access once the new version goes live.

A nasty bug has soiled many gamers’ experience with The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner on the PlayStation 3. The bug in question apparently causes a corruption issue that has resulted in many individuals losing their save data. Ouch!

“We have received a small number of reports surrounding this issue since the launch of Episode Four: Around Every Corner and have been working with users on our forums to clearly identify a solution which will be resolved as quickly as possible,” Telltale Games told Joystiq.

The developer has stated that players can avoid using the third save slot in the game’s menu as a possible way to stay away from the bug. Other than that, Telltale says that players may want to wait for a patch before playing or continuing the game.

It’s a shame that such a great series is experiencing this dreadful problem. After so many players invested several hours into making decisions and literally molding their adventure, it kind of sucks that a few folks have lost their progress. Here’s hoping a patch isn’t too far off.

Sony has dished out more details on the PlayStation Store revamp scheduled to go live on October 17 in Europe. Of note: according to PlayStation Digital Platforms team member Morgan Haro, the redesigned store is built on HTML5.

What does this mean for you? Initially – not much, says Haro, but it will allow Sony to iterate faster, providing “flexibility to seamlessly add new features and capabilities.” Since the store no longer fully relies on native PS3 functions, perhaps this will eventually usher in the return of a proper web interface for the store. This would allow users to access it via PCs and other non-Sony devices, akin to Steam.

Haro also confirmed that the “My Downloads” list will stay the same in the store refresh, at least initially. The switch to HTML5 means Sony can tweak these aspects of the store easier and faster. Here’s hoping that means we’ll eventually get sorting options and the ability to search. Additionally, the new look will apply to PS3 only. The Vita store will not undergo any changes as part of this update.

Thanks, PS Blog.

Last month, Sony quietly dropped word that a completely revamped look for was set to drop for the PlayStation Store in October. Today, we’ve been given the first glimpse of the new digs. The design itself sports a cleaner look, with content separated across distinct tiles.

UI changes include an expandable navigational menu on the left side of the page. Like the current store, content is grouped into specific sections such as “PS3 Games,” “PS3 Add-ons” and so on. The more minimalistic approach should better accommodate content heavy sections of the store. Additionally, Sony has tweaked the Search functionality to allow for autocomplete of queries. It’ll also attempt to fix misspellings where appropriate.

The new PlayStation Store is set to launch October 17 in Europe, with the rollout expanding to US users several days later on October 23. Take a gander at some screen captures below for a closer look.

Tokyo Jungle has been available on the PlayStation Network for a couple of weeks now, and in that time it’s gained quite the following. Receiving praise for its unorthodox premise and legitimately fun gameplay, the downloadable PlayStation 3 title is certainly worth checking out.

There are already plenty of animals available for you to play as in Tokyo Jungle, but if you’re looking for a few more options, you’ll be glad to know that that’s exactly what you’re getting. As announced on the PlayStation Blog, four new animals have been added to the game and are available on the PlayStation Store.

You’ll be able to take on the world of Tokyo Jungle as a giraffe, crocodile, panda, and kangaroo. Yay for options! Each of the animal types is available for 99 cents each or $2.49 for the entire set. If you’ve been waiting to jump into Tokyo Jungle, now would be a great time to do so.

Publisher XSEED has announced that Orgarhythm will land on the PlayStation Vita on October 23. The game will be downloadable via the PlayStation Network, where it will be available for $29.99.

Orgarhythm features a combination of rhythm and strategy gameplay. Featuring touchscreen controls that rely on timing and an almost Pikmin-esque appearance, the upcoming Vita title looks to offer something different for handheld gamers.

In charge of the game’s development was Neilo, a studio known for its work on Rez and Space Channel 5, both of which received favorable reviews. If you’re looking for some rhythm gaming on the Vita, or if you’re just looking for a new game to play on your portable, definitely keep an eye on Orgarhythm.

If you intend on playing The Walking Dead Episode 4: Around Every Corner, then I would suggest you get your affairs in order. As announced by Telltale Games, the latest chapter in the zombie-killing, decision-making series is set to launch on the PlayStation Network tomorrow and on Xbox Live Arcade, PC, and Mac the day after.

If you purchased the Season Pass, you’ll get the game without having to pay extra. If you didn’t, Episode 4 will run you $5. I would highly recommend you do any necessary catching up if you haven’t already done so. Finish up Episode 3, get started on the series, or just sit tight. Depending on how invested you are in The Walking Dead, there are several things you can do until Episode 4 launches this week.

This latest entry in Telltale’s vision of The Walking Dead was penned by Gary Whitta. It is the fourth of five episodes, and given the sheer quality of these titles, you have to imagine that a lot of fans are probably hoping this doesn’t mean the end of the series.
