Despite being previously announced as a multi-platform title, slated to hit both Xbox 360 and the PS3, Newsweek’s N’Gai Croal has obtained insider information which has led him to believe that Beautiful Katamari will be released as an Xbox 360 exclusive.

To back up his claims, he says, take Ace Combat 6 for instance, a once PlayStation exclusive series that moved over to Xbox 360. Then you have other Namco exclusive Xbox 360 games, such as Eternal Sonata and Pac-Man Championship Edition.

I, personally, see no reason why Namco would move the series over to just Xbox 360. Think for a second here – the Xbox 360 has a relatively low user base in Japan, why would Namco release a quirky game like Katamari just for 360? Not to mention, there are many ways Namco could make use of the PS3’s SIXAXIS feature for Katamari. The game will most likely be a timed exclusive at best.

N’Gai Croal says the deal is likely to be announced at E3 this year. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
