Rumor: Xbox 360 To Receive Real Price Cut In September

Rumors are abound that Microsoft will issue a hefty price cut on all of its Xbox 360 hardware models this September, according to technology site Arstechnica. Emphasis on “all,” as this isn’t another pseudo-price-cut to make room for new hardware.

The site reports that HDD-less Arcade model is dropping to just $199 — $50 less than the current MSRP on Wii, while the recently released 60GB equipped Pro model will drop to $299 and the Elite, which houses a 120GB hard drive, will ring in at $399 come September.

In addition to model-wide price cuts, we can expect new game and hardware bundles to roll out in time for this holiday season (a no-brainer, really).

Can the HDD-less model make use of a user installed HDD?

x3sphere says:

Yeah it can. Unlike the PS3 though, 360 uses a proprietary HDD, and the 120GB version costs $179.99 :\ Hopefully they plan on cutting the price of these hard drives soon.

is microsoft cutting down their prices because they're making a blu-ray gaming consol soon? And if they are i don't want to waste my money on a 360 unless they have something else coming up.
