Microsoft announced today that indie effort The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai will make its debut on Xbox Live Markplace later this week on April 1. A stylistic 2-D action thriller packed with enough blood and gore to match that of Ninja Gaiden, the game sees players embarking on a struggle against an evil cyborg army that is wrapping a vice of misery around the entire universe.

The game was a solo effort, developed only by James Silva in about a year and a half. Additionally, it was honored as the winner of Microsoft’s Dream.Build.Play back in 2007.

The XBLA rendition supports drop-in/drop-out two-player co-op across a variety of game modes, including arcade, campaign, and solo phantom guitar.
