With all the Final Fantasy off-shoots and remakes heading our way, one begs the question, why aren’t they remaking any games from the Dragon Quest series? After all, Dragon Quest is quite popular here in the US and insanely popular in Japan.

Unsurprisingly, it turns out that they do indeed have plans for remaking certain games from the vast DQ universe. IGN reports that Square-Enix CEO Yoichi Wada was caught answering the million dollar question at a financial briefing in Tokyo today, by stating that, “we’re thinking of a release for 9 once we’ve released remake versions and so forth.” Great news for DQ fans, and the upcoming remakes should build up steam for the big IX release.

Which DQ titles do you want Square-Enix to give a face lift to? All is the most obvious answer, but more realistically, I’d like to see them bring over a localized version of the DQ5 remake to the US, along with a remake of DQ6.
