Contra Rebirth Landing On WiiWare, Japan Only for Now

Konami’s seminal run n’ gun shooting franchise is set to arrive on WiiWare next week as Contra Rebirth.
The title will carry a price point of 1000 Wii points and is currently set for release in Japan only on May 12. While little is known about it, this entry in the series looks to sport a visual style similar to that of Contra 4, which was developed by WayForward.
Anyone noticing a trend here? First Gradius was given a 2D makeover or “rebirth” on WiiWare and now Contra. If this trend continues, perhaps we’ll see more backcatalog revivials from Konami in the future – like say another 2D Castlevania.
