Last Remnant PS3 Release Possibly Scrapped

Those holding out for a PS3 version of Unreal Engine 3 powered RPG Last Remnant may want to reconsider their plans, as a release on Sony’s black box is looking increasingly unlikely.
During an investor Q&A session earlier today, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada explained that having a significant gap between the version of a title on another platform and its original release, coupled with underwhelming retail performance, is leading to concerns over profitability. The Last Remnant initially hit shelves as an Xbox 360 timed-exclusive, then later made its way over to PC.
It’s worth pointing out that Wada did not mention The Last Remnant specifically by name, but at the same time it’s safe to assume that it was being alluded to. Considering the title was one of Square Enix’s less praised efforts last year and did not make an E3 appearance on PS3, the notion that work on a port has been scrapped is far from a unreasonable deduction.
Win some, lose some. Square Enix is keeping quiet on the matter for now, but if any updates on this come about, we’ll let you know.
