Rumor: Half Life 2 Episode 3 Missing 2010

While Left 4 Dead 2 sure is keeping fans busy, its release has done little to put a damper on the desire for another Half Life. Unfortunately, it seems as if the saga of Gordon Freeman and his crusade against the Combine will once again stay dormant this year, as the latest issue of Game Informer magazine reportedly has it on good authority that Half-Life 2 Episode 3, the final entry in Valve’s planned HL2 episodic trilogy, will not make 2010.

Valve has been taking its sweet time with this one. Episode Two was originally released as part of The Orange Box back in 2007, a grim reminder of the fact that the gap between the two installments is approaching three years. Little is known about the title thus far, other than the fact it will pick up where Episode Two left off and feature never-before-seen gameplay innovations, according to company boss Gabe Newell.

At any rate, we’re no stranger to Valve’s long development cycles. All we can do is wait — patiently. That said, here’s hoping we’ll see more than a piece of concept art this year as far as media goes to curb the anticipation.
