Preeminent video game publisher Activision Blizzard has quietly laid off 15 employees and shuffled managerial positions as part of an internal restructuring effort, according to internal memos secured by the LA Times.

As a result of the move, Mike Griffith has been named vice chairman, reporting as advisor to CEO Bobby Kotick. He previously spearheaded all divisions of Activision’s business apart from Blizzard. Thomas Tippl has received a title change to chief operating officer and now is the only executive reporting directly to Kotick, overseeing Activision’s vast publishing business from all angles.

“This is an important change as it will allow me, with Thomas [Tippl], to become more deeply involved in areas of the business where I believe we can capture great potential and opportunity,” noted Kotick in an internal memo to employees.

Additionally, a total of 15 employees have been laid off as a result of the reshuffle. Activision says it made the decision to realign its structure so as to divert resources “against the largest most profitable business segments.”
