The hype buildup for Crysis 2 begins in full force tonight at Times Square in New York, where developer Crytek will give a first official glimpse at its sequel to 2007’s graphically jaw-dropping blockbuster. The presentation is scheduled to kick off during the time slots of 10:00 p.m. EDT through 10:40 p.m. EDT, according to Crytek via a Twitter tweet:

The invasion begins in Times Square TONIGHT @ 10:00, 10:20 & 10:40.

For those of us not lucky enough to be on location, Crytek has launched a teaser site. There’s nothing too exciting on it yet, however: just a countdown clock backed by a still render of the game itself in the background. Likely we’ll be treated to a direct-feed trailer once the countdown concludes in a couple days.

Marking Crytek’s first CryEngine 3-powered effort, Crysis 2 is slated for a multiplatform release on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 later this year.
