Steam’s first major UI overhaul since its 2003 inception will make the jump from beta to final next week on Monday, Valve announced today.

During the beta testing phase, which Valve proudly declares a “huge success,” thousands of Steam users lent a hand in tracking down bugs and offering constructive feedback to help shape this point release. As you may well be aware, this client update isn’t all about looks. It brings forth several performance improvements, notably replacing the Internet Explorer-powered rendering engine with that of WebKit for speedier browsing.

If you’d like to give the new UI a spin before its official launch date, there’s still time. Simply select “UI Update” from the Settings menu under Beta Participation and have at it.
