StarCraft II Beta Concludes May 31, Second Phase Coming

Blizzard community manager Nethaera has confirmed that the first phase of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test will conclude on May 31. If you missed out or weren’t lucky enough to be selected as a participant, there’s still hope for those of you longing to play before the game’s July 27 release.

Nethaera notes that while the beta will be “unavailable for several weeks” as Blizzard perform scheduled hardware and software configuration changes, a second and final phase of the beta test will commence soon after.

Presumably, the second phase will serve as a stress test of sorts for Blizzard’s revamped Battle.net infrastructure. That means we could see an exponential increase in invites sent out, or even a free-for-all open beta.
