Stringer Expects PS3 To Emulate PS2 Success

Sony CEO Howard Stringer is content with how well the PS3 is currently performing in the market. How content? In a word, very. In a recent e-mail interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stringer wrote that he foresees the PS3 eventually reaching the same level of success that the PS2 has achieved.
Furthermore, Stringer believes current PS3 momentum is the same as it was with PS2.
The momentum shift and the energy behind PS3 in time for Christmas is extremely fortuitous,” he said. “It was planned by the PlayStation group, but I think this momentum now — particularly the number of games coming out, including our own as well as third-party — is the same as it was with PlayStation 2.
It’s clear that Sony is happy with current PS3 sales. Will be interesting to see how well the PS3 performs this month as a result of the recent price cut.
