Minter Unhappy With Space Giraffe Sales

Indie game developer Jeff Minter is in a bit of a tizzy over disappointing sales of the less-than-average Space Giraffe on XBLA. The aforementioned developer doesn’t see much of a reason to continue game development at this point, simply because of the fact that the XBLA remake of Frogger performed better sales-wise than his game.

not seeing a lot of reason to continue even trying to make games, at this point, when a remake of Frogger, one of the worst games in the history of old arcade games, can outsell Space Giraffe that we put so much love and effort into, by more than ten to one, in one week.

OK, we get the message. All you want on that channel is remakes of old, shite arcade games and crap you vaguely remember playing on your Amiga.

We’ll shut up trying to do anything new then.

Sorry for even trying.

Minter posted a follow-up to the above post, reassuring that he isn’t “giving up” on game development but is cutting back on blogging, noting that there will be “no talk, no press, no screenshots and no videos of work in progress” posted up on his personal blog in the near future.

That’s too bad. I can see how is it frustrating for him, but he needs to accept the fact that most people did not like Space Giraffe and move on. Complaining about it like this, to the public, is rather unprofessional and won’t make the situation improve.

You know what? [Minter]
