THQ today announced its entry into the rhythm-based action genre with Band Mashups for the Nintendo Wii. Scheduled for a release in April, the game features a two-player versus mode, along with an extensive single player campaign and 150 tracks spanning multiple genres, including rock, funk/hip-hop, country, marching band and Latin.

Band Mashups introduces the innovative concept of music switching, which puts the player winning the battle in control of the style of music both players hear. When an opponent turns the tide of battle, the music changes as well, switching between different music styles.
