God of War: Ascension is scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 3 early next year, but you can pre-order your copy of the game on Amazon now. As a matter of fact, you can shell out the big bucks and pre-order the collector’s edition for $79.99.

The lead was first posted on GameSpot, and after checking for myself, I can confirm that the collector’s edition of Ascension is most certainly available for pre-order this very moment. Of course, the higher price tag does entail some extras both digital and physical. If you go with the collector’s edition, you’ll get the following goodies:

  • Eight-inch Kratos statue
  • Steelbook case
  • Digital soundtrack
  • PlayStation 3 XMB theme
  • Avatar pack
  • Multiplayer double XP code
  • DLC pass for future content

So, who’s getting this? I can certainly see the Kratos statue, soundtrack, and steelbook case being pretty popular. As for the DLC pass, unless there’s story-based digital content in store for Ascension, I don’t know that too many people will care about this, and the same goes for the double XP pass. After all, the multiplayer in Ascension doesn’t exactly seem like the game’s main selling point … or a selling point at all for that matter.
