Darksiders

Nordic Games has announced its acquisition of several former THQ franchises. According to the publisher, it was able to successfully obtain Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs. ATV, Titan Quest, Supreme Commander, Frontlines, Stuntman, Juiced, Full Spectrum Warrior, Destroy All Humans, and many more.

The acquired IPs ran Nordic a total of $4.9 million. The company made sure to point out that this is its biggest acquisition ever. “First and foremost we are very happy about this deal which also turns over a new leaf for the entire Nordic Games Group,” stated CEO Lars Wingefors. “In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles.”

Of course, Wingefors also stated that Nordic won’t be rushing into any projects with loads of backing money. Instead, the publisher wants to research its acquired brands and see where it can take them. That’s certainly a good strategy, and you have to believe that THQ would’ve fared slightly better if it would’ve done the same. Well, maybe.

Previous projects published by Nordic include The Book of Unwritten Tales, Painkiller HD, and Singstar. Here’s hoping the company can take its freshly picked franchises and create some special experiences with them. I mean, come on, there are a lot of people who want a badass Darksiders 3.
