Earthbound

The Wii U Virtual Console arrival of the famed cult classic Earthbound has undoubtedly brought a lot of joy into the hearts of game players everywhere. After all, the SNES original is revered by many despite an odd launch campaign and hardly any promotion back in the ’90s.

Still, Nintendo decided to release the game after so many pleas from the fans. As expected, Earthbound is also very dear to creator Shigesato Itoi, who shared some lovely words about it on the official Earthbound website.

The piece is titled “what Earthbound means to me,” and it’s quite a touching poem. Itoi discusses his wonderful creation as more than just a game, but rather as something that evokes feelings and memories, and as a source of happiness and togetherness. The dev also talks about life and death and Earthbound‘s place in the hearts of those that the game has reached.

It’s good stuff, no doubt, and any fan of the classic RPG from Itoi should definitely check it out.
