Toejam & Earl III: Mission to Earth was never going to be an Xbox exclusive. It turns out the game was also a work in progress for the Dreamcast, but as fate would have it, the game never popped up on Sega’s final console.

Apparently, some code from Toejam & Earl III has been dug up, and depending on how a crowdfunding campaign plays out, we could eventually see the game released. You can get more info on Assembler Games, where the footage of the game was first showcased.

The gameplay video below shows what was developed of Toejam & Earl III for the Dreamcast. The first nine levels run smoothly for the most part, while later levels suffer from some glitches. Makes sense since the game was never completed.

Critically, Toejam & Earl III received mixed reactions when it landed on the Xbox. Some folks liked it, while others thought it was a disappointment. That may or may not play into how this fundraising campaign pans out.
