Capcom’s announced that its 3DS-exclusive Resident Evil: The Mercenaries will hit shelves on June 28 in North America. The graphically striking title represents the first 3DS entry in Capcom’s famed zombie franchise, with Resident Evil: Revelations due out sometime next year. Mercenaries highlights the action-packed Mercs bonus mode from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, realized in 3D.

The always frank Nintendo president Satoru Iwata isn’t taking the Wii’s breakout success for granted. With 70 million units sold and counting, he feels the company faltered from a marketing standpoint, which had a negative impact on the Wii’s effective lifespan.

Although Nintendo missed its year-end fiscal target of selling 4 million 3DS units, the company said its new-fangled portable is off to a ‘smooth start,’ shifting 3.61 million units worldwide as of March 31.
