Hyrule Warriors to Get Post-Launch DLC

News recently surfaced regarding the weird yet intriguing mash-up Hyrule Warriors. As specified on GameCity (thanks, Destructoid!), the upcoming Dynasty Warriors/The Legend of Zelda project will receive some DLC following launch. Details regarding the add-on content are mostly under wraps at the moment. We do, however, know that the Japanese version of Hyrule Warriors will offer six limited edition costumes.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Hitting 3DS Later This Year

Despite kicking the day off with some fairly bad news, Nintendo also revealed something pretty awesome. That’s right, it’s more Pokemanz, you guys! Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire have been confirmed by Nintendo, and the dual-release titles will be arriving on the 3DS this November. Obviously, these are enhanced remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire, which originally […]

Nintendo Reports $230 Million Loss in Sales

Things are a bit ugly for Nintendo as the company has reported quite a hefty loss in its latest earnings report. As of the end of the fiscal year, March 31, the Wii U and 3DS manufacturer is reporting a loss of 23.2 billion yen, or roughly $230 million. Wii U sales failed to meet their expectations, hitting 2.72 million […]

Sonic Lost World: The Legend of Zelda Zone Review: A Nice Hyrulian Treat

Sega went in a distinctly different direction with Sonic Lost World. While a lot of the series’ familiar trappings are present — you’ve got annoying characters, lame cutscenes, and high speeds — the way that the game presents its mechanics is largely unlike anything we’ve seen from past installments. For folks who just want a really fast Sonic game, Lost […]

Retro City Rampage on 3DS Rakes in More Revenue Than Xbox 360 Version, Patch Adds More Features

Retro City Rampage has found a nice a home on the 3DS. After creator Brian Provinciano decided to undertake the task of rebuilding the game for Nintendo’s dual screen handheld, it was hard to tell if all of that effort would actually pay off. Well, it has. According to Provinciano (via GoNintendo), the 3DS version of the pixelated open world […]

Sonic Lost World Gets Zelda DLC (Complete with Aggressive Cuccos!)

After receiving its first bit of Nintendo-flavored DLC back in December with Yoshi’s Island Zone, Sonic Lost World (which we were quite fond of) has now gotten yet another dose of add-on content. Dubbed The Legend of Zelda Zone, the new piece of bite-sized content throws a green tunic on Sonic and lets the wily hedgehog explore Hyrule. If you […]

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Sells 130k in Eight Days, Boosts Wii U Sales

Nintendo issued a press release announcing that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze had managed to sell over 130,000 units in eight days following its launch last month. These sales figures include both retail and digital copies of the Kongs’ latest adventure. According to Nintendo, the launch of Tropical Freeze helped boost Wii U sales by a whopping 180 percent in […]

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review: Always Trust a Tie-Wearing Ape

I don’t say this often because it’s not something I genuinely feel when I play many games these days, but I sincerely hope that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is some four-year-old kid’s first game. Super Mario Bros. was my first game when I was four, and that experience really had a great impact on me as far as video […]

3DS XL Now Comes in Yoshi’s New Island Flavor

Once again, Nintendo is releasing a custom handheld. This time, it’s the Yoshi’s New Island 3DS XL. Look at it! It’s so nice and green! And it even has Yoshi running on it, having unknowingly laid an egg. Or maybe the egg’s just floating behind him as they do in these games. Whatever. It should be noted that this isn’t […]

Wii, DS Online Functionality Will End in May

Nintendo will soon terminate its online services for the Wii and DS. According to a report from the company, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection services for the two systems will cease to operate beginning May 20. Online multiplayer and leaderboard components will be affected, and players will no longer be able to play titles such as Mario Kart DS and Super Smash […]

Waluigi Will Be in Super Smash Bros., But Only as an Assist Trophy

I know a lot of people aren’t very fond of Waluigi. After all, it’s easy to see him as a knock-off of one of Nintendo’s poorest characters. That said, I like the dude, which is why it’s kind of a bummer that he won’t be a playable fighter in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. […]

Persona 5 Coming to North America in 2015, Plus a Bunch of Other Persona Series News

After previously being teased for a 2014 launch in Japan, it looks like Persona 5 has now officially been confirmed for a North American release on the PlayStation 3. Sadly, that’s all we know for now, but hey, we’ll take it. Oh, there’s also a North American Persona 5 website, though it’s pretty barren as far as info is concerned […]

Octodad: Dadliest Catch Could Land on PS4 in April, News on Other Platforms

Octodad: Dadliest Catch may hit the PlayStation 4 sooner rather than later. According to a tweet from developer Young Horses, April is the studio’s goal, though nothing is set in stone. Additionally, Young Horses is looking into releasing Dadliest Catch on the Xbox One. This version has yet to be confirmed, but it’s still a possibility. Sadly, if you’re a […]

Conker’s Bad Fur Day Dev on Nintendo and Microsoft

The latest issue of Nintendo Force Magazine (as shared by Destructoid) features quite the telling interview with Chris Seavor, who previously worked on Conker’s Bad Fur Day. The dev shared some of his experiences as a Rare staff member, delving deep into what it was like working with both Nintendo and Microsoft. According to Seavor, there was an innate trust […]

Retro City Rampage Dev: 3DS Version Is ‘Doing Great’

Retro City Rampage DX has been doing quite well for developer Vblank Entertainment since launching on the 3DS on February 6. When asked by Destructoid on Twitter how sales were going, creator Brian Provinciano replied that the game had found a good level of success. “It’s doing great on 3DS!” he tweeted. He followed that up with an intriguing, promising […]

Diddy Kong, Little Mac Knocking Fools Out in Super Smash Bros.

The tie-wearing ape’s little pal Diddy Kong is also in the news, as he’s been revealed to be the latest addition to Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. The announcement was made on the official Smash Bros. website, where you can […]

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Out Now, Review in Progress

Looking for something to play on your Wii U? If so, you should know that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze hit Nintendo’s home console yesterday. The game, developed by Retro Studios, follows the formula set forth by 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns. That game could easily be considered one of the best games on the Wii and just a heck […]

Year of Luigi Will Finally Comes to an End on March 18

Never has a video game character deserved very little recognition like Luigi. Let’s be real here: Sure, he’s starred in some great games, but he’s kind of a pansy, and he’s not likable at all (except maybe a little in the Mario & Luigi games). For some reason, though, Nintendo decided to celebrate the inferior plumber brother’s 30th anniversary. Thankfully, […]

Oh, look! The Home-Run Bat Is Returning in the New Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo certainly likes to release tiny tidbits of info that just barely qualify as news. Case in point: the image above, taken from the upcoming Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. In the screen, we can see Link taking out good ol’ Donkey Kong with the classic Home-run Bat that’s been a staple of the series since the very […]

Rune Factory Team’s Next Project Is Forbidden Magna for 3DS

Following the closure of Rune Factory developer Neverland Company, it seems a lot of the former staff is eager to work on a new project. Said project is an upcoming 3DS RPG titled Forbidden Magna, which was ever so vaguely teased recently. The big reveal was seen in the pages of the latest issue of Famitsu (as translated by Gematsu). […]
