NPD February: Xbox 360 Records Biggest Non-Holiday Month Ever

Retail tracking firm NPD Group has released its hardware and software sales analysis for the month of February, revealing an impressive showing for Microsoft. With 535,000 units shifted, the Xbox 360 enjoyed its biggest non-holiday month ever, eclipsing its previous sales streak in September 2007, when Halo 3 launched.

On the whole, combined hardware and software sales raked in $1.36 billion for the month, a 3 percent increase over last year. Not too shabby, considering February is typically regarded as a slow month. While the portable segment dipped by 27 percent, it’s understandable, given many would-be DS purchasers are holding off for the 3DS launch later this month.

See the top ten software chart past the break.
