Select Steam Keys Redeemable On EA’s Origin

by Mike Bendel on July 21, 2011 @ 12:16 pm

For those curious, select EA titles already tied to your Steam account can be activated on Origin. While we’re not sure if this is intentional, it’s a nice perk nonetheless.

First discovered by PC Gamer, among the keys that work are Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2, Alice: Madness Returns and Dragon Age 2. An older title — namely the first Mass Effect — did not activate, however.

We just tried it with our Steam copy of Crysis 2 with success. Given that Origin has built-in functionality to detect installed EA titles, it’s possible it could search through your Steam library in the future and auto-add any compatible titles.

Least that means you won't be re-buying... but ehhh... I think I'll still stick with steam.
